THU. MAY 4 7PM Town Crier Cafe, Beacon NY Pete Seeger 99th Birthday Celebration
Leonard talks about his setting of Pete's "The Stairway" and accompanies Helene in
Joni Mitchell's "Both Sides Now" including Pet'e's 4th verse
David Amram writes:
"Dear Leonard and Helene
Thank you for your lifetime of superlative  musicianship, fine compositions and social commitment.
And a BIG Todah Rabah to Helene for your brilliant and incisive sing of Both Sides Now
After so may years of hearing and enjoying this classic song, i felt last night that i understood it for the first time.
Helene's extraordinary interpretation and flawless singing made the vulnerability of the song's creator
and the song's message come to life in a whole new way.
Hearing her singing the song with your perfect accompaniment, Leonard, made me see and hear what i had been missing.
Like hearing Caruso sing Vesti la Giubba or Pablo Casals and Glenn Gould giving their unique versions of Bach,
I heard something new last night that I will never forget.
Thank you both.
David Amram
