<b>LEONARD LEHRMAN</b>, composer of 169 works to date, including 10 operas, 6 musicals, and over 400 individual pieces, is the Editor of the 3-volume <i>Marc Blitzstein Songbook</i> (Boosey & Hawkes, 1999-2003) and author of <i>Marc Blitzstein:  A Bio-Bibliography</i> (Greenwood Press, 2005), having adapted/reconstructed/completed 20 Blitzstein works, and directed the U.S. premieres of two Brecht plays (in his own translations) with scores by Hanns Eisler: <i>Days of the Commune</i> and <i>Roundheads and Pointedheads</i>--as well as Christopher Reeve in his first role as a nerd (in O'Casey's <i>Bedtime Story</i>). Founder & Director of The Metropolitan Philharmonic Chorus, he also conducts the Oceanside Chorale and serves as Minister of Music at Christ Church Babylon, organist at Great Neck's Temple Isaiah, Reference Librarian at Oyster Bay-East Norwich Public Library, and on the Advisory Board of Composers Concordance. B.A. cum laude from Harvard, M.F.A. and D.M.A. from Cornell, with Helene Williams he co-founded the Elie Siegmeister Society, Court Street Music in Valley Stream, and the Opera/Musical Theatre Special Interest Group of The Naturist Society. An Assistant Conductor at the Met 1977-78, he was the first Jew to conduct <i>Fiddler on the Roof</i> in Berlin. He founded the Jewish Music Theater of Berlin, produced "Music of All the Americas" (1989-91) at WBAI.
